What are backlinks ? – as the name suggest these are links to your site from various other sites.  Google uses a special search algorithm where it gives weightage to the quality of sites giving backlink to your site. That means if you want your site to be better ranked then you should have backlinks from various sites which are quality sites or sites with unique content.

As such all the SEO would like to have their site better ranked buts that not easy.

How to check Backlinks in Yahoo? its simple

Go to http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/

Search your link with the following command – link:www.xyz.com/x.html

or

Search Your domain link with command – linkdomain:www.xyz.com remember you don’t put the http:// syntax.

Some advanced syntax you can use

linkdomain:www.xyz.com -site:www.xyz.com >>>. This will display links to any site excluding the internal pages of that site,

linkdomain:www.xyz.com -site:www.xyz.com -site:xyz.com
The above command will exclude all pages from the same site which will help you to measure the exact links yahoo knows from other sites linking to your site.

Note for search engine www.xyz.com and xyz.com are different www is a subdomain  so the difference. you can search various option of your domain in any of search engines and see the difference for yourself.

GOOGLE

for checking your links in google double quote your domain “xyz.com” and search your should get the list of linked pages.
Another good option to check back links is to see the cache of the pages you think or know where your links are. You should be aware of some locations where you have placed your links
